We're Back...

We all had such a wonderful time. There was a gap because after Haines, we just had Victoria - not many pictures. The time on the ship was spent doing everything- shows, shuffleboard, movies, the casino, trivia games (We won one event), gin rummy, ping pong, and enjoying the absolutely incredible food.

Thank you for watching the blog.

HAINES

It just keeps on getting better. This morning Leslie & Josue got to sleep in. Jenn and Alan went kayaking and Fran went on her bike ride along the fjord. We saw eagles and more bears today. After lunch, we all went 4x4ing on the mountain. We were in Kawasaki Mules and it was so much fun.

Unfortunately, the captain just now came on the loud speaker and let us know that they made a repair today that will have to be approved by someone who is flying in to do that job. Which means we will not be able to sail Tracy Arm Fjord. That really is disappointing, but life goes on...

Juneau

OH MY GOSH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! what a day. We all went to the Mendenhal Glacier and it was fabulous. The glacier was unbelievable and after we spent time taking picturesand enjoying the glacier, we walked back toward the parking lot to Steep Creek andsaw BEARS in their natural habitat doing their thing. This mother bear had her cubup a tree and was splashing around in the creek trying to catch salmon. We were allso excited to see wild bears.
After we returned, we looked in some of the stores and Fran, Jenn and Alan went up thetramway to Mt Roberts. There was a hiking trail up there that we took. We took a break and had some Alaskan crab cakes and then went back to the ship. Don't knowhow we're going to top today!

Ketchikan

Ketchikan
OK, so we are finally in port and ready to go! We are all going on the Rain Forest wildlife walk today. The wildlife sanctuary was so fun. We had a great walk whichwas workable for all... and there were people riding a zip line above us the whole walk. It was really weird. When we got out to a clearing we saw more eagles thanwe thought we would see on the entire trip. Such a thrill to see them in theirown habitat. We also got to see some salmon spawning. The season is just ending sowe are here none too soon. We bought some fun souvenirs and back on the ship!

Day 2 AT SEA

Day 2 - Day at Sea
well, during the night, as we got further out to sea and the swells began - 14 ft seas. People allover the ship have been sick including Leslie. She bought some pressure point wrist bands and they have helped. The ship has been bouncing pretty hard. During the fruit/vegetable carving demonstration, we had some pretty exciting moments. We triedto watch a movie out on the deck, but we were all tired and the glare was pretty bad so it didn't work for most of us. Josue persevered. Josue got right up first thing and went to the gym. Alan and Jenn went later.

We had a lovely dinner where I received my birthday cake and song. Yeah. There were also balloons outside our stateroom door. The comedian show was a blast. Some of us went to karaoke (no we didn't sing), but it was fun. The evening outside movie was cancelled due to fog. Looking forward to smoother seas tomorrow.

DAY 1 Finally starting to blog...

Day 1 Embarkation
We arrived safely in San Francisco and we all very excited when we saw our Ship. Leslie and Josue went to the non-resident line and Jenn, Alan and I saw Peg Powell. We asked the attendant if we could wait for her. It was fun being checked in by her.
We had lunch on the ship as they had the buffet ready for all of us. We left around 4 PM and it was INCREDIBLY COLD AND WINDY. But we persevered out on the bow of theship and got our going under the Golden Gate bridge pictures.
We're heading NORTH TO ALASKA!

Thanks to my family!

What a wonderful 50th Birthday present a trip to Alaska. In the same year that IT celebrates it's 50th anniversary as a state.I can't wait to start blogging.
